ECU reconditioning, ECU repair, ECU testing. New remanufactured & used ECU’s

The Toyota Corolla owner initially booked his car in for the carburettor to be sorted out since it had already been tuned and everything else except for the carburettor had been fixed already. The carburettor he had been told was the cause of the poor running, power loss, and misfiring experienced with the car recently. The car had already had the distributor replaced in an effort to cure it's faults, and the old one was left with us in case we should need it. Fortunately we did not dive straight in on the carburettor to strip it down, first we checked out the basic tuning parameters. The first problem was found to be a severe power loss to number 2 cylinder so a compression check was performed - Ok here. Next the valve clearances were adjusted these were found to be a bus ride away, but not the whole answer to the problem. The ignition system on the Toyota was rather an unusual one in that the Ignition Coil is included inside the distributor requiring special adaptors to connect the Crypton tester to check the ignition system properly. Presumably the previous person to look at the car did not have them since on checking the ignition the HT Lead to number 2 cylinder was found to be faulty. Added to these faults the ignition Timing was

25 degrees out. The engine now was transformed from a lumpy\missing\stalling pain to a smooth running machine. The condemmed carburettor though was perfect and didn't need any adjustment at all. It's very easy to jump to wrong and expensive conclusions with diagnostics if the operator is ill equipped or in-experienced - make sure yours is not lacking here.

Hessitation, power loss. This type of problem can be one of the most time consuming faults to find because the problem often is only slight and the fault only shows up when the car is being driven under load.

One of the most commen causes of this is fouled or sticking injectors that can be reconditioned at less than tenth the price of a new set. For more information on injector servicing click on injector.
